More than just fun, why vacation care matters

The spring school holidays have wrapped up, how did your children fare? Were they full of adventure, connection and laughter, or did a little boredom sneak in?

The spring school holidays have wrapped up, how did your children fare? Were they full of adventure, connection and laughter, or did a little boredom sneak in? For many families, keeping children entertained, engaged, and active during school breaks can be a challenge.

That’s where Catholic Early EdCare vacation care makes a real difference. Our Holiday Adventurers program is designed to give children a holiday packed with discovery, fun, and a sense of belonging. From hands-on craft and outdoor sports to thrilling excursions and themed days, there’s always something new to explore. Families often tell us their children come home buzzing with excitement and ready to go back the next day.

With the end-of-year holidays fast approaching, now is the perfect time to plan ahead. Vacation care doesn’t just keep children busy, it supports their wellbeing, social growth, and confidence, while giving families balance and peace of mind.

Available at 124 locations across South East Queensland, our programs are developed in collaboration with families, children, and educators. Each includes a mix of incursions, excursions, educator-led activities, and child-initiated play. Favourite experiences range from craft projects and outdoor nature play, such as gardening and sports, to construction and loose-parts play that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. New families are warmly welcomed, with educators providing personalised support to help children feel comfortable, make friends, and discover activities they love.

Why vacation care supports children’s wellbeing;

  • A sense of belonging:  vacation care gives children the chance to meet new friends, feel part of a welcoming community and build connections that can last well beyond the school break.
  • Confidence and personal growth: our programs encourage children to try new activities, from cooking and sports to creative arts and excursions. Each experience sparks curiosity, fosters independence, and gives children a sense of achievement, helping them grow in confidence and resilience.
  • Physical and mental wellbeing: vacation care keeps children active, both physically and mentally. Outdoor play, sports, and movement activities support fitness and coordination, while creative and problem-solving activities stimulate cognitive development and emotional wellbeing.
  • Social and emotional skills: being in a structured, safe environment outside the home teaches children cooperation, communication, empathy, and teamwork, skills that can be harder to develop in isolation at home.
  • Values in action: programs are guided by values of kindness, respect, and inclusion, helping children develop social responsibility, empathy, and respect for others.
  • Opportunities to explore: vacation care exposes children to new environments, experiences, and interests, encouraging curiosity, exploration, and lifelong learning habits.

Catholic Early EdCare Vacation Care isn’t just about keeping children busy; it’s about helping them grow spiritually, socially, creatively, and confidently. Every activity is designed to spark curiosity, nurture friendships, and support children’s sense of belonging and achievement.
