In response to the growing needs of the Beaudesert community, St Mary’s Kindergarten has opened a second kindergarten group, giving more families access to high-quality early childhood education. Conveniently located at St Mary’s Primary School, the kindergarten service has been a top choice for families seeking a smooth transition into prep for their child.
This year, the service also has a new kindergarten teacher, Kirsty Norris, who has spent this last week welcoming new children to the service and helping them settle in.
“The first weeks of kindergarten are such a special time,” said Kirsty. “We focus on making the children feel comfortable in their new environment and helping them adapt to new routines. Over the coming weeks we’ll watch the children grow in confidence, form new friendships, and explore their surroundings with curiosity. It’s wonderful to see them developing independence and embracing new learning experiences each day.”
Kirsty said she was looking forward to getting to know the children and families over the coming weeks. “Children develop and grow at their own pace and in their own individual way,” she said. That’s why it’s important to create experiences which respond to children’s individual strengths, abilities and interests. I encourage families to share insights with us so we can better understand what will engage and challenge their child’s thinking and support them on their learning journey.”
“Kindergarten is such an important time for children to learn, grow, and build confidence in a supportive environment,” said Kirsty. “Our goal is to create engaging learning experiences that nurture each child’s development while also helping them feel comfortable and connected with St Mary’s Catholic Primary School. By the time they transition to prep, they will already be familiar with the school setting, routines, and friendly faces, making the next step in their learning journey an exciting and positive experience.”
Kirsty welcomes the new children, helping them to feel comfortable and adapt to new routines.

At St Mary’s Kindergarten, we offer a Queensland Government-approved kindergarten program led by a university-qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten, children attend a five-day fortnight, following school hours and terms.
