Our kindergarten and outside school hours care will open alongside Star of the Sea Primary School in January 2022.

We offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program taught by a university qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten, we run during school hours and school terms, but kindergarten children can also attend before school care,after school care and vacation care.

Across kindergarten, before school care, after school care and vacation care families can choose the combination of days which suit them.

We believe each child is unique and learns differently, so our educators will spend time getting to know your child and family so that we can create engaging learning experiences that capture their interest and help them build new skills.

Throughout the kindergarten year your child will benefit from our close relationship with the school. Children enjoy regular visits and attending school events. During each visit your child will become more familiar with the school grounds and learn new skills – even how to use the water bubblers! Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our new school community and prepare for prep.

In outside school hours care we offer a flexible, child-initiated program with educators incorporating children’s ideas, cultures and interests when planning each day’s experiences. Our team will drop off and collect children from the school grounds at Star of the Sea each day. Children are offered a healthy breakfast and after school snacks, which they help prepare.

Children enjoy expressing themselves creatively through clay. They often gather loose natural items including sticks, leaves and shells to extend their creations.

Reading is part of our daily program, whether it’s in a group, read by our teacher, or quiet exploration in their own time.

Our expansive grounds provide for ever-changing outdoor play opportunities. The children spend time outdoors every day and enjoy the opportunity to create their own play spaces, bringing together loose play equipment to explore. 

At outside school hours care the children enjoy exploring early science concepts like adding food colouring to oil to make lava lamps. These experiments are great opportunities for the children to work together, taking turns to mix the ingredients and answer the educator's questions about what they are observing.

Getting creative with water

Our water mist playground is a favourite among the children. This activity provides children with an opportunity to exercise their imaginations, bringing to life all sorts of games and stories. Group activities provide an excellent opportunity to develop social skills as children learn to take turns, practice patience, cooperate, settle disagreements and share this space with each other.

Nurturing spirituality together

Children explore and encounter spirituality in ways that are positive and age appropriate. Through various activities, symbols, stories, and sharing exercises, children connect with their spirituality, fostering a sense of wonder and learn essential values such as care, compassion, honesty, kindness, and thankfulness in all of their actions.

Growing bonds and veggies

Our community garden is a place where our families and children connect with each other in a way that is led by the child. The children enjoy the sense of responsibility that caring for vegetables brings and are proud of show their newfound skills to family members.

Current Fee Schedule

Fees are reviewed annually and may be increased each year. Quality care for children, affordability for families and financial viability of the service are the key elements in determining fees.
