Tucked away in the heart of Hamilton, St Cecilia’s small class sizes and extensive outdoor play areas provide children with a unique learning environment that encourages creativity and exploration and rewards curiosity.
Located in the heritage-listed St Cecilia’s school building, our families enjoy the best of both new facilities and old world charm. Our high ceilings, French doors and polished timber floors provide a comfortable, home-like space where children feel relaxed and at ease. Our spacious wrap-around verandas, with natural light and fresh air, are popular with children looking for a tranquil setting to read, paint, draw or just ‘be’. Our big backyard, with plenty of open space, creates a sense of freedom and adventure which naturally encourages your child to explore and create something new everyday.
With capacity for just 49 children, our staff can really get to know your child and what is important to them so they can adjust programs based on how they socialise and learn, and how we can best help them grow. At St Cecilia’s we care for children from six weeks and offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program for children in the year before prep.
We are conveniently located opposite Hamilton State School and have a good partnership with the school. During their kindergarten year children regularly visit the school exploring the environment and familiarising themselves to ease the transition. We are located within easy access to Kingsford Smith Drive for families who commute between the CBD and the inner northern suburbs. We supply all meals, wipes, sunscreen and cot linen. All you need to bring is nappies, a hat and a spare change of clothes. We offer nutritious, age-specific meals for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. We are supportive of special dietary requirements and encourage families to discuss their child’s needs with us.
Children naturally explore, and experiment with different materials including sand, sticks, leaves and water.
The children enjoy building structures with colourful blocks, laying the foundations for numeracy.
Children enjoy making their own play spaces, putting together different equipment to create new play scenarios.
Lindsey, Stewy and Fergus
Children get their hands dirty while learning about plants and nature in the vegetable garden. They understand that it takes care and patience to make things grow and enjoy eating the produce they have nurtured themselves. Becoming gardeners helps the children to grow respectfully, appreciative of the world around them.
Stimulating and helping children explore all of their senses is an important part of the program in our nursery. Sensory play is anything that engages children’s sense of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing as well as movement and balance. Babies and toddlers enjoy exploring different colours and shapes, helping develop fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination.
Our on-site cook creates delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, with special attention to children’s individual dietary needs. The children enjoy sharing meal and snack times together.
Current Fee Schedule
Fees are reviewed annually and may be increased each year. Quality care for children, affordability for families and financial viability of the service are the key elements in determining fees.
