    Kindergarten

    8:45am - 2:45pm

Conveniently located at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, your child will benefit from our close relationship with the school. We are located within the school prep building and the children enjoy visiting the playground and our neighbours in prep. The children also make weekly visits to the school library and enjoy attending school events such as sports carnivals and assemblies. Each day your child will become more familiar with the school grounds and and learn new skills such as how to use the water bubblers and where to find the toilets. Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our broader school and parish community and prepare for school.

At Our Lady of the Rosary we have expansive natural outdoor play areas which provide children with a unique learning environment that encourages creativity and exploration. We believe each child is unique and learns differently, so our educators will spend time getting to know your child and family so we can create engaging learning experiences that capture their interest and help them build new skills.

We offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program taught by a university qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten children complete a five-day fortnight, during school hours and school terms. While our kindergarten program runs from 8:30am – 2:45pm, extended hours of care are available for families until 6:00pm.

We welcome children to join our kindergarten programs following their third birthday. If you are concerned whether your child is ready for kindergarten our educators would be happy to discuss this with you and together you can develop a plan to support your child’s tranisiton.

Meet Our Staff

Emma Lane

Kindergarten Teacher

I’ve been an early ed teacher for:
10 years.
My favourite thing about being an early ed teacher is:
Seeing children grow and develop and build confidence to become independent and capable lifelong learners.
Something I like to tell all mums and dads is:
Enjoy the journey and value the everyday moments, there will be ups and downs, but it’s important to remember nothing is forever, so hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
My favourite way to relax is:
Yoga on my back deck or reading a great book! (When I have the time!)

"Our daughter instantly found comfort and confidence at OLR Kindergarten and absolutely adores her teachers. Being attached to OLR Primary school was a huge draw card for us, and the kindergarten is located right next to the Prep classes, which further helps with a smooth transition to Prep next year. There is also a OSHC program at OLR that is offered to Kindergarten students - another added bonus for busy/working families!"

Exploring language

After exploring rhyming words and poetry the children each created a poem of their own, about a special person in their life and how they make them feel. The children persevered through some challenges and fears about writing and performing and by the end of the term each child published their poem in an e-book and performed it for their friends on a stage they made together.

"We couldn't be happier with OLR Kindergarten. Beautiful teachers who care about the health and wellbeing of the children. Our daughter has picked up so many lovely habits and life lessons from going to kindergarten."

Ash Wednesday liturgy

On Ash Wednesday the children visited the chapel for a liturgy. This was their first visit to the chapel so the children were full of intrigue and had many questions for Fr Mark as he brought them inside. During the liturgy the children heard about the importance of Ash Wednesday in the church and were blessed with the ashes. When our liturgy ended the children were excited to look around the chapel and compare crosses with their friends. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our preparations for Easter and the children will continue to visit the chapel and discuss this important time of the year in the lead up to Easter.
