Conveniently located at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, your child will benefit from our close relationship with the school. We are located within the school prep building and the children enjoy visiting the playground and our neighbours in prep. The children also make weekly visits to the school library and enjoy attending school events such as sports carnivals and assemblies. Each day your child will become more familiar with the school grounds and and learn new skills such as how to use the water bubblers and where to find the toilets. Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our broader school and parish community and prepare for school.
At Our Lady of the Rosary we have expansive natural outdoor play areas which provide children with a unique learning environment that encourages creativity and exploration. We believe each child is unique and learns differently, so our educators will spend time getting to know your child and family so we can create engaging learning experiences that capture their interest and help them build new skills.
We offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program taught by a university qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten children complete a five-day fortnight, during school hours and school terms. While our kindergarten program runs from 8:30am – 2:45pm, extended hours of care are available for families until 6:00pm.
We welcome children to join our kindergarten programs following their third birthday. If you are concerned whether your child is ready for kindergarten our educators would be happy to discuss this with you and together you can develop a plan to support your child’s tranisiton.
In the mud pit the children enjoy messy play and role play including construction and cooking games.
While exploring the natural environment they also discover the wildlife who share their kindy space.
In our nature garden the children enjoy growing their own flowers and vegetables.
Hear from Sally a kindergarten parent about how she has watched her son grow in his time at the service.
After exploring rhyming words and poetry the children each created a poem of their own, about a special person in their life and how they make them feel. The children persevered through some challenges and fears about writing and performing and by the end of the term each child published their poem in an e-book and performed it for their friends on a stage they made together.
