    Kindergarten

    8:30am - 2:45pm

Conveniently located at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, your child will benefit from our close relationship with the school. We are located within the school prep building and the children enjoy visiting the playground and our neighbours in prep. The children also make weekly visits to the school library and enjoy attending school events such as sports carnivals and assemblies. Each day your child will become more familiar with the school grounds and and learn new skills such as how to use the water bubblers and where to find the toilets. Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our broader school and parish community and prepare for school.

At Our Lady of the Rosary we have expansive natural outdoor play areas which provide children with a unique learning environment that encourages creativity and exploration. We believe each child is unique and learns differently, so our educators will spend time getting to know your child and family so we can create engaging learning experiences that capture their interest and help them build new skills.

We offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program taught by a university qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten children complete a five-day fortnight, during school hours and school terms. While our kindergarten program runs from 8:30am – 2:45pm, extended hours of care are available for families until 6:00pm.

We welcome children to join our kindergarten programs following their third birthday. If you are concerned whether your child is ready for kindergarten our educators would be happy to discuss this with you and together you can develop a plan to support your child’s tranisiton.

"Our daughter instantly found comfort and confidence at OLR Kindergarten and absolutely adores her teachers. Being attached to OLR Primary school was a huge draw card for us, and the kindergarten is located right next to the Prep classes, which further helps with a smooth transition to Prep next year. There is also a OSHC program at OLR that is offered to Kindergarten students - another added bonus for busy/working families!"

Growing curiosity

Our weekly garden program invites children to explore nature through hands-on experiences like planting, watering and observing insects. Led by educators and supported by Robyn from Eco Learnings, the program nurtures curiosity, care and connection — teaching children about sustainability, lifecycles and their role in caring for the world around them.

Exploring in natural surrounds

Children enjoy exploring the many pockets of our expansive natural garden. They delight in lifting rocks, climbing over obstacles, and using their imagination for dramatic play in the natural spaces.

Expressing ourselves creatively

During our group sessions, your child will be encouraged to express their ideas, using a wide range of materials including paint, pencils and collage and construction techniques. By asking questions and providing children with the opportunity to talk about their creations we help them continue to express themselves in ways that build confidence.

Current Fee Schedule

Fees are reviewed annually and may be increased each year. Quality care for children, affordability for families and financial viability of the service are the key elements in determining fees.

Kindergarten Director

I’ve been an early ed teacher since:
I started my teaching journey in primary school relief work, before transitioning into early childhood teaching in 2019.

My favourite thing about being an early ed teacher is
My favourite thing about being an early childhood teacher would be witnessing the joy of discovery in young children, seeing their excitement when they learn something new, solve a problem, or make a connection to the world around them is incredibly rewarding. The early years are such a crucial time for building confidence, curiosity and a love of learning, and being part of that journey is a privilege.

Something I like to tell all mums and dads is
Every child grows at their own pace, and the most important thing you can do is encourage their curiosity, celebrate their efforts, and make them feel safe and loved. The little moments-reading together, exploring nature, or simply having conversations-are what truly shape their learning journey.

My favourite way to relax is
Doing reformer Pilates, walking my dog, or finding somewhere to curl up with a book and some chocolate!
