Finding the Early EdCare path that fits your family

We support families in finding the early learning path that feels right, where children belong, discover and grow from six weeks to primary school age.

Every child’s early learning journey is unique. At Catholic Early EdCare, we are here to support families in finding the path that feels right, one that nurtures your child’s growth, confidence and love of learning in a place where they belong.

Whether you are looking for the flexibility of long day care or the focused preparation of a kindergarten program, both options share the same heart: creating caring environments where children belong, discover and grow.

What is long day care?

Long day care combines education and care for children from six weeks through to school age. It offers flexibility for busy families and continuity for children who thrive on consistent routines and relationships.

Each day, children engage in play-based learning guided by qualified educators who help them explore, imagine and connect with others. Every interaction supports their development socially, emotionally and cognitively, while nurturing their curiosity and confidence.

At long day care, your child will:

  • Learn through play in a safe environment
  • Be cared for by qualified early childhood teachers and educators
  • Enjoy nutritious meals, rest time and outdoor play in safe natural settings
  • Build friendships and develop independence through daily routines
  • Attend for full days, multiple days a week, all year round (excluding public holidays)

Long day care offers the flexibility families need and the sense of belonging every child deserves.

What is kindergarten?

Kindergarten programs are specifically designed for children aged 3½ to 5 years, in the year before they start school.

Kindergarten focuses on building the social, emotional and foundational learning skills that prepare your child for their next big step, prep at primary school.

At Catholic Early EdCare, our kindergarten programs are led by qualified early childhood teachers and follow the Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program.

Features of kindergarten:

  • Structured, play-based learning led by a qualified teacher
  • Typically operates during school terms (40 weeks per year)
  • Sessions are generally 15 hours per week (for example, two 7.5 hour days or five shorter sessions)
  • Focused on preparing children for school, including early literacy, numeracy, independence and self-confidence

Kindergarten gives your child a strong educational foundation in a supportive, faith-based environment where curiosity and compassion are encouraged every day.
