    7:00am - 6:00pm

Surrounded by peaceful bushland at Majella we believe each child is unique and learns differently, so our educators will spend time getting to know your child and family so they can create engaging real-life learning experiences that capture your child’s interest and build their confidence. In kindergarten your child will also explore different languages and cultures as part of our program, hepling them appreciate diversity and sparking new learning adventures.

At Majella we care for children from six weeks and offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program for children in the year before prep. We are conveniently located on Maundrell Terrace with easy access to Gympie Road for families who commute to the CBD. We supply all meals, wipes, sunscreen and cot linen. All you need to bring is nappies, a hat and a spare change of clothes. We offer nutritious, age-specific meals for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. All meals are prepared on site daily by our cook and approved by nutrition Australia. We are supportive of special dietary requirements and encourage families to discuss their child’s needs with us.

Nurturing social skills

During group time children practice their social skills including collaboration, cooperation, patience, and turn-taking as they enjoy creating their own games and play spaces, bringing together loose play equipment to explore.

Creating outdoors

Our expansive grounds provide for ever-changing outdoor play opportunities. The children spend time outdoors every day moving from the sandpit, to stepping stones, climbing equipment and balancing beams. Outdoor play on open structures gives children the opportunity to enhance their balance, coordination, and understanding of their body’s centre of gravity. Free outdoor play can also be important in developing confidence and a strong sense of self.

Mealtime routines

The children serve themselves during mealtimes, which helps to foster their independence in readiness for school and develop their social skills, get into a daily routine, and learn patience. Our onsite cook prepares morning tea, lunches and afternoon tea, and the children learn to share and communicate effectively.

Getting crafty

Children love exploring their emerging creativity and it is also an opportunity to develop their fine motor skills. The children love investigating the different textures and colours of the craft materials and exploring the use of the different tools, learning to hold a pencil and make marks on paper or using paint brushes and glue sticks. Our educators are always on hand to provide guidance for children as they experience new things and develop their skills, encouraging their early attempts and sharing their delight in success.

Meet Our Staff

Catherine Wallace

Kindergarten teacher

I’ve been an early ed teacher for:
More than 25 years.
My favourite thing about being an early ed director is:
Watching the children grow and develop into their own little person and building those strong relationships with their educators and friends. I love that we as educators and I as a director, can help shape the minds of all our children in our care with many different experiences and learnings during their time with us.
Something I like to tell all mums and dads is:
That at Majella your children become part of our bigger family, we are a lovely small centre that loves bringing our community together for special occasions where we can all celebrate the special things in life together.
My favourite way to relax is:
Spending time with my three boys, watching them play sport or going to sporting events and holidays with family and friends.

Eunice

Kindergarten teacher

I’ve been an early ed teacher for:
Over 15 years.
My favourite thing about being an early ed teacher is:
Watching how the connections I build with children support their current and lifelong learning. I love learning from and with children. I enjoy seeing the ‘light bulb’ moments when they grasp a concept individually or with support.
Something I like to tell all mums and dads is:
Play is significant in kindergarten as it allows children to practice, process and learn about their world.
My favourite way to relax is:
Going for nature walks.
