We are located in a peaceful setting, not far from the Capalaba CBD. Our fresh new learning environment and play resources have been designed to encourage creativity and exploration. Our team will take the time to get to know your child, so that each week they can create new learning experiences that capture their interest and help them build new skills.

Your child will benefit from our close proximity and relationship with St Luke’s Primary School. Kindergarten children make weekly visits to the school library to borrow books and your child will be given responsibility for caring for and returning these books. The children also enjoy visits to the school playgrounds, joining the prep’s for lunch box days and attending school events including Masses, assemblies and under 8’s day. During each visit your child will become more comfortable on the school grounds as they learn how to use the water bubblers, where to find the toilets and become familiar with the classroom environment. Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our broader school and parish community and prepare for prep.

At St Luke’s we care for children from six weeks and offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program for children in the year before prep. We supply all meals, wipes, sunscreen and cot linen. All you need to bring is nappies, a hat and a spare change of clothes. We offer nutritious, age-specific meals for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. All meals are prepared on site daily by our cook and approved by Nutrition Australia. We are supportive of special dietary requirements and encourage families to discuss their child’s needs with us.

Meet Our Staff

Brenda Armstrong

Director

I’ve been an early ed director for:
Six years in both long day cares and outside school hours care services.
My favourite thing about being an early ed director is:
The amazing children I get to see every day with their stories and pure honesty.
Something I like to tell all mums and dads is:
We understand it’s a difficult job having to drop off your children with someone else but it is generally harder on parents than it is on their child. Children adapt very easily and receive lots of cuddles. The hardest part is saying goodbye.
My favourite way to relax is:
Going to the beach and spending time with my family in the outdoors.

Sue Keepa

Kindergarten Teacher

I’ve been an early ed teacher for:
Eight years.
My favourite thing about being an early ed teacher is:
Being with the children everyday.
Something I like to tell all mums and dads is:
We are here to support you every step of the way in getting your child ready for school.
My favourite way to relax is:
Yoga.

Afternoon yoga

In the afternoons, after the busyness of lunch and outdoor play, our children transition back into their room with yoga. This is an opportunity for some quiet relaxation time as the children centre themselves and prepare for the afternoons activities. They each collect their personal yoga mat and find their own space to set up. The teachers support the children and they follow a videoed instructor through a meditation session. These yoga sessions help the children develop an awareness of personal space and build the skills to self regulate and calm themselves during times of stress, which they will benefit from for years to come.

Under 8’s Day

The St Luke’s Primary School Under 8’s day festival is always a highlight for our kindergarten children. During the many experiences run by the school teachers and students from Carmel College, the children get to make friends and work with prep to grade three students and develop new skills. This is fun play based method we use to introduce the children to the school environment that is part of our prep transition program. By introducing them to school in fun and play based ways we help them to be themselves and fully embrace the experience free from any nerves or anxiety. Parents are invited to attend and this is an exciting opportunity for children to show their parents all that they have learned about ‘big school’ and how confident they are in this new environment.

"I have been a St Luke's Day Care mum for 7 years, with 3 children working their way through the centre. I have had children in every room, and taught by nearly every teacher. I cannot recommend St Luke's Day Care enough. They have gone above and beyond for my children. Nurturing them while they were babies, assisting with toilet training while they were toddlers, and making them more than ready to start Prep. The integration they have with St Luke's School is an amazing asset for the children to feel comfortable at the school, before even starting Prep."
