We offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program taught by a university qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten, children attend during school hours and school terms. Children can also attend before and after kindergarten care as well as vacation care. At St Ann’s, kindergarten families can choose the combination of days that suit them.

We believe each child is unique and learns differently, so our educators will spend time getting to know your child and family so that we can create engaging learning experiences that capture their interest and help them build new skills.

Throughout the kindergarten year your child will benefit from our close relationship with the school. Children enjoy visits to the library, prep classrooms and playgrounds as well as attending school events. During each visit your child will become more familiar with the school grounds and learn new skills. Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our broader school community and prepare for prep.

Our outside school hours care service offers before and after school care for children from kindergarten to grade six. We offer a flexible, child-initiated program with educators incorporating children’s ideas, cultures and interests when planning each day’s experiences. Our team will drop off and collect children from St Ann’s Primary School each day. Children are offered a healthy breakfast and after school snacks, which they help prepare.

Alison Ellis

Kindergarten Teacher Director

I’ve been an early ed teacher:
For a very long time but in kindergarten for four years which I love the most.
My favourite thing about being an early ed teacher is:
Watching children learn and grow through play, especially caring for nature and observing how children use the natural environment in their play including finding bugs and growing our own vegetables.
Something I like to tell all mums and dads is:
That each child is special and will learn and grow at their own pace, don’t rush them let them enjoy being a child.
My favourite way to relax is:
Reading a book and spending time with my family outdoors camping or 4wd driving and I love watching my children participate in school and sport experiences.

Mixing paints

Providing children the freedom and opportunity to express themselves creatively is important to the team at St Ann’s Kindergarten. That is why children are always encouraged to create things the way they see it – through their eyes. When the children were exploring self identity they each created a self portrait. The children were encouraged to mix their own paints, experimenting with colour combinations to create what they saw was the perfect paint for their skin, eyes, hair and lips.

Bush kindy

As part of our bush kindy program the children can explore and learn about new natural environments, observe different animals and trees and start to conserve and care for a beautiful natural space. During these expeditions the children always have lots of questions for their teachers about what they are seeing and are able to bring back to the classroom sticks, leaves and flowers for further exploration during craft and other classroom experiences.

Creative story telling

The dramatic play space or 'home corner' is a favourite for many outside school hours care children, providing unique opportunities for them to create something new every day. Working together, across age groups, the children develop stories and re-enact them in this space.

Cooking up a storm

During before and after school care children assist in preparing a healthy breakfast and after school snack. When some of the children expressed an interest in cooking the educators assisted them to make muffins at before school care to enjoy as an afternoon snack. Together the children are developing their team work skills, learning to follow a recipe and practicing measurement, while creating a special treat for their friends.

In our natural outdoor play spaces children create new things every day.

In our mud kitchen the children get busy perfecting their latest recipes.

Creating obstacle courses the children enjoy challenging themselves and are learning safe risk taking.

While in our mud pit the children enjoy messy play.

Current Fee Schedule

Fees are reviewed annually and may be increased each year. Quality care for children, affordability for families and financial viability of the service are the key elements in determining fees.
