    8:30am - 2:45pm

Our warm and welcoming heritage setting, expansive outdoor play areas and close connection with Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School provide opportunities for children to grow in all kinds of ways.

Your child will benefit from our close relationship with the school. Our children make weekly visits to the school library to borrow books, which your child will be given responsibility for caring for and returning. The children also enjoy visits to the prep classrooms and attend school events including sports carnivals and the annual Book Week Parade. During each visit your child will become more familiar with the school grounds and learn new skills, even how to use the water bubblers. Our educators will watch your child’s confidence grow as they become part of our broader school and parish community and prepare for school.

Before and after kindy care is also available through Our Lady of Good Counsel Outside School Hours Care. For families requiring additional hours of care, it is available from 6:30am in the morning and until 6:00pm in the afternoons. Families will need to enrol in the outside school hours care program separately.

At Our Lady of Good Counsel Kindergarten, we offer a Queensland Government approved kindergarten program taught by a university qualified early childhood teacher. As a sessional kindergarten children complete a five-day fortnight, during school hours and school terms. We currently run one kindergarten program with children attending Monday, Tuesday and every second Wednesday.

Nature study

Our lightbox is a favourite spot for children to share, examine and discuss found natural objects. We encourage children to investigate and make new discoveries about the world around them and take opportunities to learn more about the objects which interest them most.

Dancing to your own tune

Music is a regular part of our week. Your child will be encouraged to connect with music in the way that suits them best. Whether through listening, movement or playing an instrument, by themselves or in time with others. Music helps children connect with words and emotions, and helps build numeracy skills.

Creating outdoors

Our expansive grounds provide for ever-changing outdoor play opportunities. The children spend time outdoors every day moving from the sandpit, to stepping stones, climbing equipment and balancing beams. They also enjoy the opportunity to create their own play spaces, bringing together loose play equipment to explore.

Getting school ready

Our close relationship with Our Lady of Good Counsel Primary School and weekly visits help prepare children for a smooth transition to school. On one of their recent visits, the children participated in ball games with their school-aged friends. The children embraced the challenges of each new activity and learnt about teamwork, with the guidance of the older children. These activities help familiarise children with the school environment and help them grow in confidence as they explore new experiences and opportunities that lie ahead.
